This statement explains how we collect, use and disclose personal information about you, our client.

As required by the Privacy Act, we must make you aware of the matters contained in this statement in so far as they relate to the personal information we collect about you.

Personal information you provide to us is collected by Encompass Tax and Accounting and can be contacted at Suite 2 Catalina Resort, 47 Sixth Avenue Maroochydore, Queensland. Phone: (07) 5479 1234 Fax: (07) 5479 0047.

You can access the personal information we hold about you by sending a written request Encompass Tax and Accounting at the above address.

When you provide personal information to us about you we rely on that information being accurate, complete and up to date. If you advise us that the personal information we hold about you is not accurate, complete and up-to-date, we will correct our records, upon receiving such advice from you in writing.

What type of information does Encompass Tax and Accounting collect and how do Encompass Tax and Accounting use this information?

We only use the personal information for the purpose for which it is collected i.e. to provide services requested by you in the provision of accounting and taxation services e.g.:

  • to set up your trading account with us;
  • to administer your trading account with us to keep your details accurate, complete and up to date;
  • to communicate with you;
  • to provide you with accounting / tax / audit / business advisory services.
  • to send documentation to you in relation to services requested by you;
  • to process your payments of our invoices;
  • to carry out voluntary surveys for feedback. Before collecting the survey results, we will advise you of the purpose of such survey;

Who does Encompass Tax and Accounting provide personal details held to?

We will not disclose any personal information to third parties unless:
  1. It is necessary for a service you have requested (e.g. to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission for company incorporations);
  2. such disclosure is required by or under the law of the courts or a law enforcement body or in other circumstances where such disclosure is authorised by clause 2.1 of the National Privacy Principles set out in Schedule 3 of the Privacy Act.
The organisations to which Encompass Tax and Accounting usually disclose personal information are:
  1. Government departments (e.g. the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) require the names, addresses and dates and places of birth of the officeholders and members of the proposed company);
  2. We will also disclose personal information about you to various organisations when this is necessary to process an order for a service requested by you (eg a company incorporations, superannuation fund or other unit or discretionary trusts);
  3. Other third parties whom request that you provide certain personal details (such as tax returns, financial statements to support finance applications) only where you have provided specific consent to provide such details.
What if I don't want to provide personal information to Encompass Tax and Accounting?

The law does not require us to collect personal information about you, however, if the minimum information requested is not provided, we will not be able to supply our services to you.

What are Encompass Tax and Accounting procedures to maximise confidentiality?

Our staff are trained to treat client information with the utmost confidentiality. All personal information we hold about you is protected from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

We do not transfer any personal information about you overseas.

What other data is collected?

When you browse our website, our Internet service provider logs the following information for statistical purposes:

  • Your service address
  • Your top level domain name (eg .au)
  • Date and time of your visit
  • The type of browser used
  • Pages viewed
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities.
